Walk No 247 5.00 Mile Walk Fradley Junction Thursday 7th May 2026 Main Walk This is a route which has been followed before, but should be no less enjoyable when revisited. Easy level walking with plenty of interest, taking in two canals just north of Lichfield. The route follows roads, lanes, grassy field paths and towpaths. Starting from the centre of Alrewas the route follows two miles of the Trent & Mersey Canal to Fradley Junction which will make a fine coffee stop. The Junction is a focal point of the canal network with a number of listed buildings including The Swan Public House, cottages and a small warehouse. The adjacent crossover bridge and locks are also listed buildings. There is also an Information Centre, cafe and toilets. The walk then continues along the Coventry Canal for about a mile and a half before leaving to reach Fradley. Lanes and field paths are then followed back to Alrewas. Amblers One option for Amblers is to take coffee at The Laughing Duck Cafe which is situated alongside the canal at Fradley Junction, with outdoor seating, £2.00 parking charge applies. DE13 7DN . Pub opens at 12.00am. Route Directions Take the A38 North from Wall Island, towards Burton and exit at the junction signed Alrewas and follow the signs to the centre of the village along main Street. The George & Dragon is on the left hand side just before the right turn into Post Office Road, at a sign to the Methodist Church. Access to the car park is directly from Main Street at the rhs of the pub. Please make you own arrangements for car sharing and let me know whether or not you will be Joining.
